Would You Like to Become a Ham?

The Metro Amateur Radio Club works closely with a fine local VE team that conducts license testing for the FCC. New hams or technicians wanting to upgrade to General or Extra are encouraged to exam. If you set up an appointment ahead of time, you can test before any of the monthly meetings of three different Chicago area ham radio clubs. They are:  Metro Amateur Radio ClubChicago FM Club or the Society of Radio Operators.

Marc, AB9OP leads the VE team. Testing for Technician, General and Extra licensing can be arranged by appointment.
To set a date to test for any of the three licenses, contact AB9OP via  email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
